We took the early train to Monterosso to begin our morning walk to Vernazza. We were aware that we may need to transform ourselves into a mountain goat to climb these hills. Yes, it was steep, but boy was it worth it. Wow, it was a sight to behold.
A PERFECT DAY IN THE CINQUE TERRE
Hiking Monterosso to Vernazza
Eating in Vernazza
The delightful Bianca of the Italian Fix refers Vernazza the beauty queen of the Cinque Terre and describes this village as the most popular girl in school and I love that description. It was time for a meal with a view in this sweet place, so we headed off to indulge in some of the local specialties.
Cooking class in our Agriturismo
This afternoon was once again about Italian food. I love to cook and eat which is no surprise to anyone who knows me. I come from a long line of “eaters” and my four siblings consider ourselves big “foodies” The class took place in our charming 17th century “cantina”. We learnt to prepare the dishes together with the chef Alberto Villa in this hands-on experience creating a delicious three courses meal. We wound up the class with an aperitif served on the terrace followed by a candlelight dinner accompanied by local wines.
