THE ALLEYWAYS & ARTISANS OF FLORENCE

Uffizi Gallery Florence

A trip to Florence would not have been complete without a visit to the Uffizi Gallery to see one of the largest collections of art in the world. It is one of the oldest and most famous galleries housing some of the most important works of the Renaissance. It was a WOW moment drinking in the details of those Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Raphael paintings. Some are so beautiful they make you want to cry. Looking at all of this art makes me wonder what I have been doing with myself all my life!

The Artisans of the Oltrano area

When I planned to take women to Italy on my Design and Lifestyle Tour to Italy this year, I felt pretty darn passionate about seeking out many of the creative people in Florence. I set out to find a local who could take us behind the scenes to the workshops and stores of some of the cities talented people. I wanted a really authentic experience and not a cookie cutter tour guide with a flag and 30 people in tow. Enter Sara, our local jewellery maker and personal guide for the six of us. Sara is the co-founder and creative director of a group of creative people in Florence so I knew she was the perfect fit. This is what we saw and I must say I found their work inspirational and I just wanted to pull up a stool and hang out with them for hours. But on we must go…so much to see and do in glorious Florence.

The Food & Wine of Florence

We had a delicious meal today washed down with a few swigs of the local wine. There are few finer things in life than good company and a laugh over a superb lunch. Add in Florence and you have it made.

If you are thinking that doing a tour like this with a group of women then, of course, you can register your interest here about upcoming tours and I will keep you in the loop about what’s upcoming.

Until next time love your homes and those within it,

Carmen
